Then every db would have to be in the same folder on every server.

How do you access the db on another server?
Is it relative to the server the composit app db is on or the database the connection is in?

the notes url can use filepath/filename instead of the repID, all you need to do is have is calc the current server name - @servername.

I see this as a versatile way to make dynamic apps.
